How to Clean Blinds

With the excitement of new furnishings put up, you will be tasked with maintenance and cleaning of your new blinds.

In this guide, we provide you with some tips on how to clean your blinds.

Firstly, there are various types of blinds available in the market that you can choose from and for different functionality.

For example, at Ace Curtains, we have the following blinds in our catalogue:

Cleaning Fabric Blinds

Fabric blinds includes: Roller Blinds, Roman Blinds, Korean Blinds and Cellular Blinds

Fabric blinds are mostly low maintenance and can be cleaned with simple vacuuming just like curtains.

For cleaning fabric blinds, you can make use of a lint roller or low-setting vacuum with dusting brush to clean your fabric roller blinds.

You’ll also note that some blinds can be washed to get a cleaner result. However, do make sure to read up instructions for dismantling and care of the material before you do it!

If your roller blind can be washed, use mild detergent and delicate machine wash to prevent your fabric roller blinds from getting damaged while washing.

Cleaning Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds made with horizontal slats and are suspended together.

As these slats are stacked together, they overlap one another and can then block out sunlight when closed.

They can also be lifted up or let down, or rotated to 180 degrees to open up and let light in.

Venetian blinds also require very little maintenance and does not require any washing!

Since they are made of solid material, you only need to dust them, use a lint roller or wipe them with a wet cloth.

Cleaning PVC & Aluminium Venetian Blinds

The slat of Aluminium Venetian Blinds are horizontal and made of solid material.

You only need to do regular light dusting to upkeep your venetian blinds and no washing is needed.

Cleaning Wooden Blinds

As Wooden Venetian Blinds are made of wood, you should keep them away from high moisture areas and avoid using a very wet cloth on them.

For maintenance, you can clean them the same way as Aluminium Venetian Blinds by dusting.

You can also do light cleaning with a damp cleaning cloth but be extra careful to not wet the wood as it will cause the slats to warp.

Also, you should avoid using any chemical on them and simply dust or wipe with soapy water and let them dry immediately.

Cleaning Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are often used in Condos , schools or commercial offices as they look sleek and elegant. An example of vertical blinds would be Unislat blinds.

Vertical blinds require only very little maintenance and can be cleaned with soft, damp cloth or by using a lint roller.
