Polystyrene (PS) material is durable against strong sun and heat in Singapore. It doesn’t warp against heat and moisture which makes it the easiest to maintain for homeowners and offices.

They are easy to maintain by just dusting or wiping down with a damp cloth or a duster wiper.

For timber Venetian blinds, do not use a wet cloth and leave any water on it as it can cause the wood to bloat!

Yes, Venetian blinds will give you privacy in bedroom, bathrooms, and even the office. It is not see through as the horizontal slats can be tilted to block out any view from outside.

We generally do not recommend Venetian blinds to be installed in the bedroom as it is one of the blinds that leaks the most light. There would be light leaks from the slats as well as all four sides.

You might want to install a combination of night curtains and Venetian blinds for a dark room to sleep in, and to control light & privacy in the day.

There are multiple factors that affect how a set of Venetian blinds work. In general, here are some disadvantages of Venetian blinds:

  • Light leaks: Not suitable for bedroom especially for people sensitive to light
  • Heavy to operate: The normal system might be heavy for kids or elders to operate
  • Can be complicated: New owners might find it difficult to operate the normal system with 4 cords.
  • Multiple cords: It may pose safety concerns for toddlers or pets depending on how it is installed

Venetian blinds are considered low-maintenance because the solid slats can be dusted or wiped with a damp cloth.

Please note that for Timbre Venetian blinds, you should use a dry cloth or ensure that your cloth isn’t wet and have proper ventilation after to prevent the wood from bloating.
