What Are Roller Blinds?
Roller blinds comes in a single piece of fabric wrapped around a high quality steel tube. It is a type of window blinds that provide simple, clean look and lines to your interior design.
They are commonly used in homes, schools and offices. At home, most clients prefer to have them in their bedroom, inner side of balcony and bathrooms. In school and offices, this blinds can provide total privacy at the place it is installed.
What type of roller blinds are the best?
With the variety of fabric you can choose from for roller blinds, they can be used as a privacy “screen” for windows, window shade, bathroom privacy blinds and even as projector screen.
The best type of roller blinds for you would depend on the usage and room you are in.
In the bedroom, we recommend having blackout roller blinds, or dual blinds with blackout and either dimout (wabi sabi) or perforated roller blinds. This is so that you have higher control over your privacy and light control.
For living rooms, we recommend having either dimout or perforated blinds. For more privacy, dimout roller blinds will be the best as it blocks out the view for onlookers as well as harsh sunlight. Perforated roller blinds can filter out harsh sunlight but when passerby are closer or when it’s night time, you lose a level of privacy.
For kitchen or service yard, we also recommend dimout roller blinds for more privacy.
Types of Roller Blinds

Blackout Roller Blinds
Blackout roller blinds are very affordable for home owners and offices. They are made with a thick, opaque fabric to block out light and provide maximum privacy. They are a great addition for total privacy at home for bedrooms and nurseries, as well as a popular choice in the office. However, it may not be suitable for you if you are sensitive to lights when sleeping as there will be light leaks on at least 3 sides of the blind.
Wabi Sabi (Dimout) Roller Blinds
Dimout roller blinds also known as “wabi sabi” blinds are sunscreen roller blinds made with translucent fabric that filters harsh sunlight and reduces glare so that you can have soft ambient natural light at home. At the same time, it can also provide full privacy both day and night compared to perforated blinds. If you are a homeowner who wants natural lighting in the living room, study room or kitchen while still maintaining privacy, these blinds will be a perfect choice!
Perforated Roller Blinds
Perforated roller blinds are made with small holes in the fabric to allow some natural light to filter through while still providing privacy. It is better used for living room or service yard as it will offer you the privacy you need while still filtering away harsh sunlight. However, the perforation isn’t suitable for night time and should be combined with blackout blinds or night curtains for your privacy.
Outdoor Roller Blinds
Outdoor roller blinds are usually perforated in material to allow light to come in from your balcony or service yard. They are installed with stainless steel wind guard to prevent your blinds from flying around. These blinds are a great addition to your balcony as it can help to block out wind and rain.
How do I choose a roller blind?
Once you have decided on the type of roller blinds, you can decide on the mechanism. We currently have three options available:
- Pulley Chain (Manual)
- One-touch System (Manual)
- Motorised System (Automatic)
For regular sized windows, we recommend having the pulley chain roller blinds. If you have kids or pets, we recommend the one-touch system to reduce the risk of injuries or damage.
For high ceiling or wider windows, we recommend motorised system as it reduces any issues or damages caused due to manual pulling on a heavy set of blind.
How long do roller blinds last?
Our roller blinds typically last for more than 5 years. We also provide a 2-year limited warranty on our blinds. These blinds are designed to be durable, easy-to-clean, comes with a wide range of colours, patterns and types and the basic models are also affordable to install.

Upon sending an enquiry on Whatsapp, Wilson responded to my questions promptly and set an appointment on the same week. On the day of the appointment, he took the measurements of the window and provided samples of the curtains on the same day.
The manufacturing process took about a week, and another appointment was made for the installation of the rail, curtain hooks and the curtain. The contractors arrived on time, was extremely fast and professional and the process took around 15 minutes.
